With a history over 100 years old Superga remains relevant with every new collection and has become one of the most iconic European footwear brands of all time. With a canvas design and rubber sole the instantly recognisable Superga is comparable only to Converse in terms of history and timeless style. While the story of Superga goes all the way back to 1911 the styles still remain fresh in today's crowded footwear market.
Originating as a rubber tyre manufacturer it was 1911 when Walter Martiny first made the decision to produce rubber soled footwear featuring the Superga branding and this was a decision which would birth the most iconic brand in Italy. While the initial Superga styles were somewhat successful it was not until 1925 the brand created the iconic 2750 style which featured a canvas upper and vulcanized rubber soles. This silhouette grew to become one of the most loved styles in trainer history and after a brief hiatus during WWII the 2750 was selling millions of units a year.
As the brand recognition grew Superga diversified their collection introducing new styles including high tops leather styles and even slip on styles. The latest collection from the brand builds on their heritage with quality canvas construction and bold colourways. The brands classic branding is evident throughout and it is clear to see why they are often referred to as ‘the people's shoe of Italy’.
