Pendleton Sale

For 153 years and six generations Pendleton has set the standard for American style. In 1863 Thomas Kay arrived in Oregon, and opened the Pendleton woolen mill. The british weaver laid the foundations of Pendleton as we know it today. His expertise continues to live on in Pendleton’s tweed, flannel and worsted wool apparel. The mill began as a wool scouring plant, which washed raw wool before shipping. In the early 1900s Kay’s grandsons, the Bishop brothers, joined Kay’s weaving skills with stunning Native American-inspired designs in the Pendleton Trade Blankets, a benchmark for beauty and quality for over 100 years. The Bishop brothers applied intuitive business concepts for quality products and distinctive styling and a study of the color and design preferences of local and Southwest Native Americans resulted in vivid colors and intricate patterns.

Over the past 25 years, Pendleton Woolen Mills has developed a series of Legendary Blankets which are based on the beliefs and traditions of their original and most valued customers. The vertically intergrated company performs the myriad steps of the manufacturing process for many of its products. This manufacturing process gives the advantage of monitoring every step of the production process to maintain quality and value through close attention to detail and high efficiency.

Pendleton wool buyers shop world markets, but most of Pendleton's wool still comes from the United States. Variety, quality and quantity of wool fibers are essential to the final product. Pendleton still owns and operates its weaving mills in Oregon and Washington, with state-of-the-art dye technology featuring computer-controlled systems for water, dyes, heat and flow pressures, this ensures the exact duplication of colors.

This family thread has continued to produce Pendleton leadership with a legacy of hands-on management for six generations over 150 years. Today the company owns and operates 5 facilities, manages 50 Pendleton retail and outlet stores. With their expertise and technology growing over the years, that has translated into a host of other luxury fabrics. However the legacy of quality will never change. You can see and feel the Pendleton passion for quality, in the intricate patterns of blankets inspired by Native American designs and legends.
