G-STAR RAW FOR THE OCEANS

G-Star has been a global trendsetter for 25 years – constantly evolving their denim led package to stay in line with current trends and even create new ones. AW 14 see’s the brand team up with fashion’s newest superstar – Pharrell Williams – whose Billionaire’s Boys Club & Ice Cream labels have been huge commercial successes.

Raw For The Oceans is a collaborative project with Pharrell curating the range on behalf of G-Star. The idea is simple but completely original – the brand has teamed up with Bionic Yarn to take plastic waste from the world’s oceans and transform it into fabric for use in jeans and apparel.

The range is not what you’d describe as “typically G-Star” – indeed the playful styling is a fresh look for the brand that works exceedingly well – the octopus logo is particularly strong and makes the cropped sweat, hoody and t-shirt options particularly eyecatching . The monochrome colourway is more traditional with its industrial aesthetic enhanced by sea-bleach techniques throughout and this transfers well into the extra long denim workshirt which is a key piece within the range.

Of course – no G-Star release would be complete without a denim option and the seminal Arc 3D jean is presented here in a fashionable black colourway.
