After seeing the latest James Bond film Skyfall there were only two things on our mind; why were there not more scenes with Séverine and what jacket is Bond wearing at the end; it definitely looks like a Barbour?
It turns out our suspicions were correct. Bond was wearing the olive green Barbour Heritage X ToKiTo sports jacket; an exclusive collaboration between Barbour and Japanese designer Tokihito Yoshida. Barbour have remade the iconic jacket as part of their exclusive Dept B collection and renamed it the Commander Jacket, after Commander Bond of course.
Launched midway through 2013 the top-tier jacket sold out in record time across the country. After huge interest in the style Barbour have just re-delivered in time for Christmas, to celebrate we’ve taken a closer look at this amazing piece of film & fashion history.
The commander jacket is a well-tailored sports jacket that perfectly combines urbane styling with Barbour’s rich country heritage. Made from 6oz Sylkoil waxed cotton the Commander jacket offers protection from the elements to add trademark Barbour functionality along with cool elegant style. To finish off the look Barbour has lined the jacket with the ever-recognizable Barbour Tartan giving it a classic look and feel.
The small details are what really separate this jacket from the rest; soft leather bound cuffs and collar lining, 8oz waxed cotton elbow pads and shoulders and tweed insert detailing inside the jacket show how Barbour have turned functional elements into stylish fashion details.
A definite collector’s piece for lovers of Barbour, Bond and fashion this is a jacket you will be wearing for a long time with timeless design that will fit every season and occasion. Don’t miss out on a second chance to buy this limited piece.
