Liam Gallagher’s mod tinged fashion label Pretty Green burst onto the fashion scene in 2009 and has gained a cult following thanks to strong designs and instantly recognisable style motifs. Of course having a rockstar owner hasn’t hurt and the label regularly references the music world in its collections. The AW 2013 collection is no exception, the designs have been influenced by independent record stores and parallels are easily drawn between the resurgence of vinyl and the continued success of Gallagher’s retro fashion stylings.
The collection has a vintage feel throughout with flashes of sartorial brilliance that are as euphoria inducing as tracking down a rare EP or blowing the dust off a treasured white label. For ultimate rockstar credibility Pretty Green have re-issued their leather biker jacket, a slim fitting piece crafted from super soft lambs leather. For £325 this is the ultimate investment – the buttery soft material promises to age beautifully and the classic biker style is guaranteed to last.
Jackets are amongst Gallagher’s label’s strengths and the Coat Jacket is no slouch. Keenly priced at £95 this killer jacket utilises lightweight techy material to produce a Stone Island-esque look for a fraction of the price. Great as a textured mid-layer or a lightweight jacket this is one of the best styles we’ve seen in a long time. While the rich blue (pictured) and forest green are the obvious colour choices, we’d recommend the brown for a more mature look.
Pretty Green has also outdone itself with a strong line in polka dot polos and shirts. The well cut shirting options use fantastic quality material and the bold polka motif is ideal for statement dressing over the festive period. The oxblood maroon tone they use throughout the collection is a particularly strong with the white polka dot.
