One of the most recognisable brands of the 1980’s is back in Xile after an extended hiatus and the return of Best Company has left us giddy with nostalgia. If you cared about fashion in the 1980’s then Best Company was a big deal and its return showcases some of the signature designs of the time with a contemporary twist. Under the watchful eye of Olmes Carretti the brand has stepped back into the limelight after an absence of over 25 years and remains as relevant as ever.
Olmes Carretti was a fashion powerhouse in the 1980’s and was behind some of the biggest brands of the day including Best Company, By American and Henri Lloyd. While Best Company set out to create bold sweats inspired by Olmes Carretti’s travels throughout the world the style was quickly adopted by the Paninaro scene in Italy and became something of a uniform for the fashionable Milanese. With the growth of the Paninaro scene the styles soon made their way across to the United Kingdom and the same brands popular with the Paninaro worked their way into terrace culture in Britain.
Best Company in the 1980’s was focused around bold branding, striking prints and inventive uses of colour. As the brand makes a return in 2018 the high standards have remained while the fit has been given a contemporary overhaul to keep the archival designs relevant and modern. The first collection of this brand has now arrived at Xile and looks to continue the success of the brand when it first shut shop in 1992.
